Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship
To qualify for consideration for the RTP (Research Training Program) scholarship, students must meet certain criteria.
- Be a domestic student or an international student enrolled in an accredited HDR course of study at the Australian National University
- Not be receiving income from another source to support that student’s general living costs while undertaking their course of study if that income is greater than 75 per cent of that student’s RTP Stipend rate.
- Continuing eligibility for RTP scholarships depends upon students remaining enrolled and, for international students, retaining residency status for the duration of their eligible HDR program. If an international student changes their residency status the university is required to reconsider their eligibility for RTP scholarships in respect of their changed residential status.
- Students cannot receive an equivalent scholarship from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR tuition fees if they receive a RTP Fee Offset scholarship
Benefits of the Scholarship
- Stipend scholarship for three years, with the possibility of:
- Six month standard extension; and
- Another six month extension if the reason for request falls within the additional eligibility criteria under Item 15. Period of Support, of the AGRTP Procedure.
- Travel and removal allowances for students relocating to Canberra to commence their research program.
- Thesis allowance
- Dependent child allowance (International students only).
- Paid medical, maternity and parental leave
Application Process
No separate application is needed for the RTP scholarship, as all eligible candidates will automatically be considered. However, it’s important to indicate your interest in being considered for any available scholarships by selecting the appropriate boxes in the admissions application form.
