All you should know about the Australian Temporary Skill Shortage 482 Visa

Did you know that there are over 7.6 million migrants in Australia with England, India and China as the top three countries represented in this data according to the 2020 statistics released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics? Australia is a major attraction for people who want to relocate from their country to another country.

After scouring Quora for you to find out first hand how Australians are like with immigrants and I am pleased to report that to a large extent Australians are actually welcoming to immigrants and as of 2016 about 28% of the people in Australia were born in another country and about 75% of the rest have at least one parent or grandparent in another country.

Australia is quite a big country and it is more than 3 million square miles which is about the size of Europe. Some fun facts about Australia include the high tax paid for cigarettes. The government of Australia really doesn’t want a citizen to smoke and so cigarettes are really expensive. A pack of cigarettes cost about $40.

Another fun fact is that jaywalking is a crime in Australia. You can’t just cross the road all willy-nilly and you’re walking could actually have you paying a fine of AUD$70.

As a Nigerian who is used to crossing the road anyhow, some people do not even use the pedestrian bridge while crossing in Nigeria, you can’t do that in Australia or you could be fined AUD$70. Another fun fact is that Australia is the only continent nation in the world. What this means is that it is an independent country and also a continent.

Australia is one of the largest countries on earth and the smallest continent. It is lying between the Pacific and Indian oceans and its capital is the city of Canberra.

Australia has a good standard of living, great healthcare, great economy and is generally a great place to live.

As of July 2022, you can now apply to be a permanent citizen of Australia with a Temporary Skill Shortage 482 visa. As a Temporary Skilled Shortage 482 Visa holder, you are now eligible for permanent residence in Australia. The great thing about this visa is that it also allows your family members to study, work and live in Australia.

The Australian visa subclass 482 has become a pathway to permanent residency for existing skilled workers on the short-term stream. The permanent residency was only previously available to medium and long-term strategic skill lists. Due to these changes, if as an applicant you have worked for your employer for two of the last 3 years while holding a 482 visa as of July 2022, you can now apply for the 482 permanent residency visa.
