It’s time to set your travel goals. It’s time!!!
I don’t want you to make all of these plans in your head, talk about all of the places you want to travel to, and actually never do it. It’s a new year and you’re probably wondering how to set your travel goals because you have places to go, flights to catch, and experiences to take in.
Travelling can be so much fun and can be easy whether you’re travelling around your country or you’re travelling abroad. You probably have had loose plans of travelling, experiencing different cultures, and seeing new places, and it’s perhaps felt far out of reach but I have to tell you it doesn’t have to be and right here we’re going to get how you can and things that you can do to help you achieve your travel goals for the year.
 Make A ListÂ
No dream is far out of reach and one thing I know is that there is no crime in writing things down, while you’re writing you’re allowed to dream as big, as wide as you can. there is nothing standing in your way of doing that. So make a list, and write out all of the places you want to travel to. It could be 100 countries, 50 countries, three countries, maybe five countries just write a list of everywhere that you thought of visiting, places you want to experience their culture, you want to see what their life there looks like, just write it down. It’s the first step towards achieving your travel goals.Â
After making the first list, it’s time now to make the second list.Â
Decide The Countries You Want To Visit This Year.
From your extensive list of travel destinations, it’s time now to select the countries you would like to visit this year, whether it be two countries, three countries or five countries.
Now that you know and have selected the countries you want to visit for the year It’s time now to research these countries, you decide whether you want to fly first class, whether you’ll be flying on a straight or connecting flights and also determine if flying to one airport within the country is cheaper and then doing the rest of the journey by road. Also, decide where you want to stay; would it be in a hotel, rental, hostel, or Airbnb? You determine your itinerary for each location. How much the activities on your itinerary would cost you, and how much feeding would cost you?Â
Create A Travel BudgetÂ
With the list of the places that you intend to go to ready, it’s time now to decide on the budget. After researching flights prices, feeding expenses, car rental prices, accommodation expenses, activities expenses, visa expenses and so on, all of these will give you an idea of how much you’d be needing for each location, so decide on the budget for each of these locations to help you in your goals and arrangements
Start Saving Towards Your Travel Goal
With your budget set, it’s time to start saving towards your goals. This might be easy or not. You might have to deny yourself some things to be able to meet your travel goals. It could be less eating out, closing your eyes to buying certain things that you can otherwise do without, and being very frugal with your spending.
Decide Your Travel Date
This will help you with your plans and preparations. It’ll help you decide when you’ll be able to get time off work, and if you’re not travelling alone, you’ll be able to arrange all well in advance. If there are other things that you need to put in place before you’re able to travel, all of this would help decide your travel date and help with your planning.
Try To Get Another Source Of IncomeÂ
Your current income might not be enough to cater to your budget for your travelling expenses and experience. It might need you to take another job or get another source of income, maybe start a side hustle that a large percentage of the profits from this extra income goes directly towards your travel savings. As with everything in life that you want, sometimes you have to work extra hard to be able to get it and in this instance, it might be you taking up another job, starting a side hustle or monetizing your skills to bring in more money for you.
Ask QuestionsÂ
As you research each destination, travel, and all that it entails, don’t be afraid or shy to ask questions. Talk to people, ask them to share their experiences, use Google, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok and look into each location, the cultures, what is accepted and what is not accepted in each location and so much more.
Have A Separate Account That Is Dedicated For Travel ExpensesÂ
It is advisable that you have a bank account or a savings account dedicated specifically to all that concerns your travel expenses. When you get paid you can easily transfer to this account and know that it’s safe there. This also helps to prevent unnecessary spending and helps you to be more intentional towards your saving and helps prevent unnecessary spending from your travel money.
