Let’s chat about the Finland D visa.
The Finland d visa is a visa that allows you entry into Finland immediately after you have gotten or have been issued a residence permit. The D Visa enables you to travel to Finland immediately. This can happen as soon as you have gotten positive feedback on your application for your residence permit and you have the D visa sticker on your passport. Once you get to Finland, the residence permit card will then be delivered to you.
When You Can Apply For The D Visa
 If you have been granted any of the five residence permits which are;Â
- Â EU blue cardÂ
- Residence permits for work in the top or middle management of a companyÂ
- Residence permit for a startup entrepreneurÂ
- Residence permit for a specialistÂ
- Residence permit for a specialist or manager on the basis of intra-corporate transfer (ICT residence permit)
Eu Blue CardÂ
 For the Finland EU Blue Card, if you are going to Finland for highly qualified employment as a highly skilled worker and your income is at least 5,209 euros in 2023 and you have a degree, you are allowed to apply for the EU Blue Card.

Residence permit application for persons employed as a specialistÂ
The resident permits application for persons employed as a specialist, application for this permit is only acceptable if you work as a specialist and you are deemed so especially if you are going to Finland to do jobs in expert duties that require special expertise, that is, a highly skilled worker. If you are on a salary that is at least 3,473 euros per month as of 2023 and you have a degree or acquired expertise through work experience.
The duration for the residence permit is 2 years.
Documents required of you include your passport photo, your valid international passport, a document that shows that you have the legal right to stay in the country where you submit the application and coloured copies of your passport page that contains your personal data and all of your passport pages that contains a note.
Residence permit application for a startup entrepreneurÂ
 If you’re a startup entrepreneur that wants to move to Finland, you apply for this residence permit. To be able to apply for this permit, you will need to obtain a Positive Eligibility Statement from Business Finland. If you’re not able to get a Positive Eligibility Statement from Business Finland, you can instead decide to apply for a residence permit for an entrepreneur. You are considered a startup entrepreneur if you are the owner of a recently founded company that is particular about growth or if you’re about to start up a company.
The company only needs one person from the team to apply for the statement and then the statement can be shared with the rest of the team. One of the requirements for the residence permit application for a startup entrepreneur is proof of funds, showing that you have enough capital and financial resources for the entire duration of your residence permit and this residence permits duration is two years.
Some of the documents that will be required from you will include copies of your passport page containing your personal data, your international passport, proof of legal stay in the country, your eligibility statement from Business Finland and a passport photo of you and also proof of funds.
Residence permit for a specialist or manager on the basis of intra-corporate transfer (ICT residence permit)
ICT is short for Intra-Corporate Transfer and the application for this residence permit is for when you are transferred internally within a company or group of companies in order to work as a trainee, manager or specialist in Finland and also if you have the experience and education that is needed for the job. You will need to live outside the European Union to be eligible for the application of your first intra-corporate transferee permit.
Residence permit application for working in top or middle managementÂ
The major requirement to be able to apply for this residence permit is if you are in the middle or top management of a company. Your duties must consist of managerial duties and the company you work for must be large enough to have both middle and top management. You must also be a confirmed employee before you apply for the permit.
You will be issued a D Visa if you are applying for or if you have been granted any of the above-mentioned residence permits. Your spouse and children are also eligible to apply for the D Visa but will need to apply for the Family Member’s residence permit at the same time as you.
