“Stop Coming To The UK With The Care Route Visa” Nigerian Youtuber Warns

It is no news that making well-informed decisions will save your life especially when it involves moving your entire life and relocating to an entirely new country.

A Nigerian YouTuber currently living in Middlesbrough, United Kindom Prudence Apinoko shared her experience and advised Nigerians planning to move to the United Kingdom with the Care Visas from Nigeria.

A lot of Nigerians that moved to the United Kingdom through the Care Visa have complained about how their expectations are not met with the visa, and care agencies promise, their hopes have been dashed and how there are barely enough jobs to go around.

She touched on these points,

Nigerians getting extorted by agencies

Prudence warned Nigerians to be very careful and cautious of agencies that promise things they can not deliver on. She warned Nigerians to be wary of agencies that are helping with the immigration process and claiming to help them relocate to the United Kingdom but are instead extorting them. A lot of Nigerians are now stranded in the United Kingdom without a proper means of livelihood.

She advised Nigerians not to be taken in by the air of ease that some of these agents might paint to them because life in the United Kingdom is not rosy or easy and it takes a lot of work. Learn how you can avoid getting scammed by travelling agents here

Lack of proper planning by Nigerians moving to the United Kingdom with their families and getting extorted by these agencies is making life very difficult and breaking marriages. She warned that you should be very careful and stay away from these care agencies because a lot of them to fill their pockets are taking so much money from a lot of Nigerians who do not know what the situation is like in the United Kingdom.

If you have a well-paying job in Nigeria and you’re comfortable, you shouldn’t be too much in a hurry to resign from your job and move especially when you are not 100% sure of what your relocating situation would be like and what life would be like for you after you resign. You need to ensure that you have concrete plans, make well informed decisions concerning your job with a certainty that you will get a good job when you relocate.

Ask questions

She went on to advise Nigerians to ask pertinent questions from these agencies. Ask about the location you are being sent to, ask about the quality of life and standard of living there, if the standard of living is affordable or expensive and if your wages and salary will be enough to help you live a good life. Questions like; what city are you going to? How much does rent cost in the city? Will the salary you’ll be paid be able to match your income and standard of living in that city? How is life in the city? What is the employment rate in the city?

To prevent you from moving all the way to the United Kingdom struggling to survive because a lot of care agencies are helping people migrate to the United Kingdom and instead of getting off with a good life they are instead suffering. Some are even relocating with their families and are stranded. Some Nigerians paid as much as 12 million naira for a sponsorship visa only to get to the United Kingdom and they don’t get shifts in the jobs that they got employed for or the agencies would give them a few shifts and then after a few times they just don’t get shifts anymore.

And without a proper income, you are not able to pay your bills, if you relocate with your family you are not able to take care of your family and take care of yourself, you’re not able to pay rent.

If the agency is not giving you answers to all of the necessary questions that you have, you should take your money and walk away and not allow yourself get extorted and duped. She gave an example of a couple of families, one whose visa got denied after they had already sold their properties in Nigeria and they couldn’t move anymore and another that moved but couldn’t get a job prompting the husband to abandon wife and kids.

Do your research And Make Well Informed Decisions

Ms prudence also advised Nigerians to do their research. She advised that you use Google, If it’s possible you can find people in the states that you would be moving to so you can ask questions about the way of life over there, how much rent on average is, how much it costs to feed, and the tuition for education. What does it cost to deal with childcare, and babysitting while you’re working?

She said, “move informed, if you’re not informed, you’ll be stranded”. Accommodation is a big challenge for people, and even jobs are scarce quantity. She warns that you shouldn’t be taking in with the figures for the salary. She gave an example of jobs promising that you’ll be paid £19,000, £21,000 but with the way things are set up over there, this is not going to be enough for you and your children. She advised that on average you should be earning about £30,000 per annum.

Prudence also warns that you should be careful, be careful of who you’re taking advice from, be careful who you’re giving your money to, be careful who you’re listening to, people that are offering you help and telling you they can help you move to the United Kingdom.

“If it’s not a well informed relocation, don’t do it”

Don’t follow the bandwagon or you are just going to struggle.

Don’t do it because everybody else is doing it. Make well informed decisions for the benefit of your well being.
