Ghana joins the list of countries granting visa-free entries to citizens of African countries
Former President Nana Akufo-Addo announced that effective 2025, Ghana will allow visa-free travel for all African passport holders. This new policy aims to support the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the operations of the world’s largest trading bloc. It also advances the African Union’s 2063 agenda for a connected and integrated Africa. This AU Agenda 2063 is the African Union’s development blueprint for 50 years. The visa-free policy will strengthen international relations, improve tourism and attract investors.Â
Ghana has now joined the ranks of countries like Kenya, Seychelles, Benin, Gambia and Rwanda allowing African passport holders visa-free entry although the country had in the past allowed passport holders from 26 African countries, visa on arrival for passport holders from 25 other countries with only Eritrea and Morocco needing a visa before entry into Ghana.
Over the years, the country has attracted ex-pats from various countries and has booming tourism and now thanks to this new policy, things can only get better.
