The government of Romania through its ministry of foreign affairs provides MFA scholarships to nationals of non-EU countries every year. To be a beneficiary of the scholarship, applicants must have stellar results in education, to be eligible for the scholarship. All areas and programs of interest may be selected by the applicants except for Pharmacy, Dental Medicine and Medicine. Also to promote the Romanian language and culture, study programs are only available in the Romanian language for the bachelor’s and master’s degrees while for the PhD candidates can choose to run the program either in the foreign language set by the doctoral school or in English language.
This scholarship is meant for students and applicants for learning from non-EU countries and would be provided in accredited institutions in Romania. This is funded through the ministry of foreign affairs (MFA) and the Ministry of Education (ME).

Romania Scholarship CoverÂ
Bachelor’s Degree: This degree is for applicants who have graduated high school or secondary school or applicants that are seeking further studies, maybe a second degree. This specialist degree program spans a period of 3 to 6 years depending on the area of specialisation.
Master’s Degree: This is a degree meant for students who already have a bachelor’s degree and usually spans a period of 1 to 2 years.
PhD/Doctorate Degree: This program usually spans a period of three to five years and is open to candidates with the master’s degree.
Language Of Study
For the masters and undergraduates program, the program will be done in the Romanian language by the beneficiaries of the scholarship and this is meant to promote the Romanian culture and language. To help candidates who do not speak Romanian to better assimilate, they are granted a preparatory year before the actual program starts where they get a chance to learn more about the culture, learn to speak the language, and understand all that has to do with Romania that they will need during their course of study. Exempted from this are the PhD candidates who might have chosen to do their program in the any foreign language set by the doctoral school or in the English language.
Documents For Application
The scholarship applicants will have to create an account on the study for Romania platform, and after filling in the requested data, they will be required to upload these necessary documents-
- Applicants are to submit a copy of the first three pages of their passport or national document of identity and the authorised translation where applicable into Spanish, Romania, English or French.
- Â They’re also to upload copies of their certificates, the necessary ones depending on the program being applied for which could be bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate degrees.
- Â Applicants are to upload their curriculum vitae in French or English language.Â
- Â They are to submit a copy of the birth certificate or an equivalent document which could be a court affidavit.
- They are also to submit copies of transcripts from their completed studies.
The necessary documents must be scanned individually and in PDF format.
Scholarship Benefits
- Candidates are exempted from the payment of registration fees or any other fees that are required by the application process, necessary testing for the Romanian language skills, taking the admission contest for all doctorate studies and other specific aptitude tests.
- Funding for the tuition expenses for the Romanian language preparatory year.
- Â Candidates are given monthly scholarships for students that is enrolled in the Romanian language preparatory yearÂ

Things To Know About The ScholarshipÂ
- Â There is no age limit to be able to apply for the scholarshipÂ
- Â You can only apply for the scholarship once a yearÂ
- You can only submit one application during the program
- The programs are run in the Romanian language and this is to promote the Romanian culture and languageÂ
- The scholarship consists of funding tuition fees, funding accommodation fees, a monthly financial aid.
- You cannot defer the scholarship, it cannot be transferred or suspended till the next academic yearÂ
