The Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships (QECS) present a distinctive chance for individuals to pursue a two-year Master’s degree in a low or middle-income Commonwealth nation. Geared towards students dedicated to instigating positive transformations within their communities, these scholarships offer a transformative experience, allowing recipients to immerse themselves in a new country and culture, broaden their perspectives, and establish a global network that will endure a lifetime.

Through fostering cultural exchange and academic collaboration, Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholars play a pivotal role in effecting constructive change and devising solutions to common challenges, both in their home countries and the nations hosting them. As integral members of the Commonwealth network, scholars contribute to shaping its future trajectory.

The application process for QECS occurs twice yearly, with cycle 1 opening in November/December and cycle 2 in March/April. Applicants need only submit one application, although they are encouraged to apply multiple times if interested in studying in different countries.

Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarships target students committed to effecting positive change within their communities. Recipients receive support to enhance their knowledge and skills, equipping them to apply these competencies in their careers and contribute to addressing global challenges and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

  • You must have attained a minimum of 2:1 (or equivalent) at undergraduate level to be eligible to apply.
  • You will need to submit an application for admission to your chosen university course directly to the university in addition to completing a QECS application.
  • Applicant must be from a Commonwealth country
  • Meet the requirements for your chosen university and course
  • Applicants must be committed to creating change in their communities

  2. Visit the relevant university website for more information on your chosen course using the links included below.
  3. Complete and submit a QECS application for your chosen university/course by clicking the ‘Apply now’ button. Once you’ve clicked apply, you’ll be directed to a log in page. If you don’t already have a myACU account, click get ‘get started’ in the right hand corner of the page to start your application.
  4. Submit an application to your chosen university for admission to your chosen course.
