New Zealand Scholarships
ADB Scholarships at the University of AucklandÂ
The Asian Development Bank- Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in 1988 and is financed by the Japanese government. This scholarship was created to provide opportunities for well-qualified citizens of the ADB developing member countries, to allow them to acquire postgraduate degrees in management, science and technology, economics and other related fields.
Scholars are expected to contribute to the social and economic development of their own countries after the completion of their programs.
The scholarship scheme is limited to four programs which are the Master of Public Health, Master of Science (Environmental Science), Masters Programs in Engineering and Masters of Arts (Development Studies).
The scholarship benefits include;
- Tuition fees at the University of Auckland.Â
- Airfare from the scholar’s home country to Auckland, New Zealand.Â
- Basic living allowance.Â
- Â Airfare from Auckland, New Zealand to the scholar’s home country at the conclusion of the course of studyÂ
- Â A special grant may be available for thesis preparation for scholars that are engaged in research.
Criteria for eligibility;
- Applicant must be a national of an ADB borrowing member
- Applicant must have gained admission to an approved master’s program at an approved academic institution.
- Â Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with a stellar academic performance and record.
- They must have at least two years of full-time professional work experience at the time of application.
- Â Must be skilled in written and oral English communication skills.
- Applicants should be under 35 years of age as at the time of application in and in exceptional cases for programs that are appropriate for senior officials, applicants must be under the age of 45.
- Â Applicants must agree to return to their home country after completing the program to develop their own country.
Documents required;
- A copy of your offer letter to the University of Auckland.
- Certificates of income issued by the company.Â
- Â Your academic documentation both degree certificate and transcript.Â
- Â Certificate of employment for the duration of employment.
- A copy of your passport.
- And your valid IELTS test results.

University of Wellington Manaaki, New Zealand Scholarships Programme
The aim of this scholarship is to build potential world leaders. Scholars gain world-class education, lifelong friendships and vital skills to strengthen their careers and home countries. The Manaaki New Zealand scholarships are funded through the New Zealand aid program and are administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The scholarship is to help build sustainable development in partner countries and a lifetime connection with New Zealand.Â
As with a lot of scholarships like this, scholars are expected to return to their own country for at least two years after the completion of their scholarship to allow them to apply the skills that they’ve learnt in civil society, private or business organisations and government.Â
