The representative that took the interested candidate through everything about Queen’s University Belfast is Wole Ibukun. He shared all the pertinent information about the university and why you should choose it for your degree.

Queen’s University Belfast’s Ranking and Credentials for Q3 World Rankings

10 of Queen’s University’s subjects are in the top 200 in the world.

For pharmacy and pharmacology, they rank 79, in Agriculture and Forestry they rank 151 to 200, for Nursing Its 51-00, English Language and Literature 94, Medicine 151-200, Chemical Engineering 151-200, Law 101-150, Electronics and Electrical Engineering 151-200, Archaeology 101-150 Architecture/Built Environment 151-200.

Queen’s University Belfast ranks 24th in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022, ranks 34th in the Complete University Guide 2022 and also 33rd in the Guardian University Guide 2022.

They also have other impressive rankings for their courses 19th in the UK for Medicine, 9th in the UK for Anthropology, second in the UK for Dentistry, 6th in the UK for Architecture, 20th in the UK for Civil Engineering, 17th in the UK for Chemical Engineering, 3rd in the UK for Electronic and Electrical Engineering, 7th in the UK for Building and Town and Country Planning, 5th in the UK for Social Work, 1st in the UK for Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 10th in the UK for Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering, 6th in the UK for Accounting and Finance.

Employability for graduates of Queen’s University Belfast

Graduates of the University are employable as the university ranks top 10 in the UK universities for student placement. it is also number one in the UK for entrepreneurial impact (Octopus Adventures, 2019-2020) The university is also ranked top 161-170 in the world for graduate prospects and this is as of QS Graduate Employability 2022.

University Environment

The university campus is a beautiful architectural heaven that has the main university campus, Maclay library, Botanic Gardens / PEC, Elm Students Village and Willow Walk, faculty offices, the Global Research Institute, cafe and restaurants, the university accommodation, school offices, and also crèches for kids. At Queen’s University Belfast, you will come across the medical biology centre (MBC), Sonic Arts Research Centre, Institute of Electronics, Communications and Information Technology (ECIT), Queens Sports Malone Playing Fields, the Lanyon Building and Students’ Union.

Accommodation 

The university promises that as a new student gaining admission into the university you are guaranteed accommodation should you want it. It is advised that as soon as you have gotten your approval, you should apply for accommodation immediately.

Accommodation at Queen’s University Belfast is purpose-built with the students in mind And the accommodation is also 15 minutes walk to class. It is a 50-three-storey block with about 10 to 11 bedrooms per floor. You could decide on a standard or ensuite choice of rooms. That accommodation also offers you active residential life programs, and all-inclusive electric, gas and Wi-Fi. If you choose to want single-sex, quiet living and no alcohol accommodation, these options are available to you.

Some of the benefits of the University accommodation include; the student’s common lounge with a games table and a free coffee bar, students also get access to rooms that are available for study groups, society meetings and private use, the reception is open to students 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

For security, there is on-site security staff that is present every night, you can also decide to choose an ensuite bedroom and a cluster flat of three to six bedrooms or you can settle for a studio apartment if that is your choice and finally there is a residential live team that is on standby to provide pastoral support, and in charge of social events and organising trips.

Queen’s University is so great with accommodation that the university’s accommodation is actually ranked 3rd for University accommodation in the International Student’s Barometer 2018.

For international students, you get to enjoy over 400 social events that are dedicated to expanding your cultural horizon, a dedicated residential life team, coffee night, excursions and different events. The accommodation also offers choices and options to suit your lifestyle whether you are choosing to live with your family, you don’t want to be with people who drink alcohol, or you want single-sex-based accommodation.

For food and groceries, you get access to Asian cuisine, Turkish cuisine, Arabic, African and Nigerian stores. There are 7 African/ Nigerian shops. 

Tuition For Queen’s University Belfast

For candidates wanting to get a degree at the University, the tuition for classroom-based learning like law and psychology is £18,800, for laboratory-based learning, the tuition is £23,100 and for preclinical-based/clinical-based learning, it is £35,800.  

The University offers you an early commitment award and other scholarships. For classroom-based learning, you get an early commitment award discount of £1,500 and also an International Office Scholarship Award of £2,500, which makes your total fee payable to be £14,800 instead of the original £18,800.

For laboratory-based learning, you get an early commitment award of £1,500 and also an International Office Scholarship Award for £3,000 which makes your total fees payable to be £18,600 instead of £23,100.

Scholarships available for you as an undergraduate at the Queen’s University Belfast include;

International Office Scholarship worth £3,000 and this is for first years only 

There is also the International Office Scholarship worth £2,500 and only also available to first-year students 

There is also the early commitment award and this means that you pay your balance of year one fee by the 30th of June 2023 or within 5 days of getting an unconditional offer.

You also get the Queen’s family scholarship which is a 20% tuition fee reduction in the first year and finally

The Vice Chancellor’s International Attainment Scholarship.  This is only available for first-class students and you get 50% of your tuition fees paid for the duration of 4 years. It s only open to 6 students for undergraduates and 6 students for postgraduates. You should not be discouraged as the representative, Mr Wole Ibukun mentioned that last year 2 of those 6 people was Nigerian and South African so you do stand a chance.

Tuition for postgraduate students

For classroom-based learning, tuition is £19,100 with an international scholarship of £2,000

Laboratory-based learning, tuition is £23,150 and an international scholarship of £3,000.

Depending on your course of studies, 

For courses like MSc Finance, MSc International Business, MSc Management, MSc Quantitative Finance, MSc Marketing, and MSc Risk Management and Financial Regulation tuition is £20,500, For Software Development, the tuition is £23,100, for Psychological Sciences, the tuition is £22,000, for Accounting and Finance, the tuition is £21,500, and for MBA the tuition is £25,000.

Scholarships that are available to postgraduate students for the 2023-2024 session at Queen’s University Belfast.

Queen’s Family Scholarship will grant you a 20% reduction on your tuition.

Early commitment award. This is available to you if you pay the balance of your fees by June 30th 2023

International office scholarship1 with the scholarship fee rate of £2,000 

International office scholarship 2 with the scholarship rate of £3,000

Queen’s management school scholarship which is a £5,000 award but this is not available for MBA 

Vice chancellor’s international attainment scholarship. With this scholarship, you can get 50% of your tuition paid for a maximum of 2 years
