Fully Funded Postgraduate Scholarships for International Students at the University of South Australia
The University of South Australia is offering scholarship opportunities for international students interested in pursuing postgraduate research programs at the university.
These scholarships include the Research Training Program international (RTPi) Scholarships, Enterprise Research Scholarship (ERS), and International Research Tuition Scholarship (IRTS). Funded by the Australian Government, these scholarships are granted to international students based on their academic achievements and research capabilities. Recipients will also receive full living stipends supported by external funding, such as sponsorship or scholarships from recognized awarding bodies.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship
- All students must hold the right to study in Australia. International students are required to either hold a visa with study rights that covers the entire period of study, or provide evidence of their application for an appropriate visa and hold a visa with study rights until the expected approval of the appropriate visa. Students who do not hold an appropriate visa for the full length of their period of study are able to take up their scholarship at the discretion of the Manager: Applications and admissions, Student and Academic Services, or their delegated authority.
- All international students must meet our English language requirements to be eligible for entry into a research degree.
- A relevant Bachelor degree (or equivalent) of at least 3 years with a minimum credit average; or an Honours degree or a Bachelor degree with honours;
Applicants for the International Research Tuition Scholarship, in addition to meeting UniSA’s eligibility criteria, applicants must be:
- Commencing international research degree students
- High quality with demonstrated research capability, as assessed by UniSA
- Be supported by a strong supervisory panel (with end-user adviser on the supervisory panel, where appropriate), and be enrolled in a research-rich environment
- In receipt of (or been awarded) a fully externally funded stipend scholarship, or in receipt of a living stipend supported by external funding*.
*Note: the living stipend needs to be in the form of an externally funded scholarship administered through the University or in agreement with an industry partner, sponsorship body or organisation
Benefits of the Scholarship
- A full-time equivalent fee offset of up to 4 years for Doctoral program, and 2 years for a Masters by Research program. Once the fee offset period ends you will be liable for ongoing tuition fee.
- A full-time base stipend of at least $32,500 per annum. The stipend is available for up to 3 years for a Doctoral Program or a maximum of 2 years for a Masters by Research program. Once the stipend scholarship ends you will be liable for all living expenses. Note that the stipend scholarship for a PhD student is for less time than the fee waiver. This is to allow the candidate additional fee free time for marking post the initial completion of the thesis

- International students who require a student visa to study in Australia are eligible to receive Overseas student Health Cover (OSHC) from the University’s preferred supplier where they receive a scholarship that includes a stipend. Students not on a student visa are not eligible to receive OSHC From the University. University funded OSHC is not available to students awarded an International Research Tuition Scholarship (IRTS)
